RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE LIBRARY

Library Rules:


1. The library will be open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
2. The issue and return of the documents shall be between 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
3. The membership of the campus library is open to all the students, research scholars, faculty, and staff members of the campus.
4. Every member must sign the appropriate register available at the library entrance.
5. All users must observe strict silence and maintain decorum and discipline inside the library.
6. Engaging in conversation, discussion, or group study inside the reading area is strictly prohibited.
7. The use of mobile phones inside the library is strictly prohibited, except while scanning reading material or for any other educational purpose.
8. Users are not allowed to bring personal belongings like bags, umbrellas, personal books, or other such items inside the library. They are to be kept at the property counter only.
9. The library can't be held responsible for the loss of personal belongings like watches, pens, pen drives, wallets, mobile phones, etc. that were left on library premises.
10. Computer terminals should be used for educational purposes only. Access to social media sites is not permitted.
11. Users should not deface, write in, mark, fold, disfigure, cut, or mutilate library books in any way. If found, shall be treated as a loss of books.
12. Books, journals, etc. taken from the shelves for reading should be left on the tables after use and not be replaced on the shelves.
13. Users violating the rules of the library shall be liable to forfeit the privileges of the library, its services, and termination of their membership.

Circulation Rules:


1. Reference books, rare books, theses, bound journals, and MSP material are to be consulted within the library only.
2. Back issue(s) of the journal may be issued for a period of not more than a week, only with the permission of the Assistant Librarian.
3. Manuscripts are to be consulted with the written permission of the director.
4. Borrowers must satisfy themselves with the physical condition of the books before leaving the circulation counter.
5. Borrowers can reserve the book(s) at the circulation counter in case the particular book(s) has already been issued. The reservation will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
6. The library can recall any issued book even before the due date.
7. The book bank facility is available to all students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PH categories as per the rules.
8. Two books will be issued from the book bank to each student for the period of a semester.
9. Loan Privileges

Loss of document(s):


1. If the document is lost or seriously damaged, the user will be responsible for the same and will have to replace the same book (title, author, publisher, etc.) or pay four times the actual cost of the book as a penalty.
2. In the event of the loss of any issue of a periodical, it has to be replaced, or the cost of the entire volume must be paid.
3. In the event of the loss of a single volume of a multivolume publication, the volume has to be replaced, or the cost of the entire set will be recovered from the borrower.
4. The library will suspend all its services to the defaulters till the recovery is made.


OVER DUES

1. Borrowers are eligible to keep a book ordinarily for 14 days from the date of issue. A penalty of Re 1-00 per day, per book will be levied if returned after due date.
2. A penalty ranging five times or more of the price of the damaged or lost books will be levied and the decision of the Library Committee/Librarian/competent authority is final in this regard. In the case rare and unavailable books, the penalty will be decided by the competent authority on case to case basis.
3. If a Borrower fails to return any book within one calendar month from the due date, his/her borrowing privilege will be ceased and suitable disciplinary action will also be initiated.
