Central Sanskrit University (Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan) established the Sri Rajiv Gandhi Campus at
Sringeri, Karnataka. The decision behind establishing the campus in this holy place was rightly taken
by the University authorities and the campus was inaugurated by His Excellency R.Venktaraman,
the then President of India on the auspicious day the 13th January 1992 with the Divine blessings of
Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharadapeetha.
The University has acquired land measuring 10.2 acres from the State Government of Karnataka for developing
the campus at Sringeri. The Administrative-cum-Academic block of the campus was completed and handed over
by the CPWD at a cost of Rs.163 lacs. The second phase of civil works consists two Hostels for boys and
girls, Quarters and Guest House are completed at a cost of Rs. 417 lacs. During 2015, the extension of Academic and Administrative building and both hostels was carried out with the budget of 9.00 crores. Now New Academic and Administrative block is under construction, for which a budget of 23 crores is allotted at first phase.
At present the campus offers Prak-Shastri, Shastri, Acharya, Shiksha-Shastri and Vidyavaridhi courses
equivalent to Intermediate, B.A., M.A., B.Ed., and Ph.D respectively and recognized by various
Universities. The University is also the member of the Association of Indian Universities. In addition
to these courses, the campus offers a ray of modern subjects for the all round development of the
students such as History, English, Kannada, Hindi, Computer Education, Yoga and Environmental Education.
